Do I need prior experience with cats?

While you don’t have to be a cat owner, we are looking for people who are comfortable working around cats and can understand cat behaviour.

What age do I have to be to volunteer?

12+ years with a parent/guardian or 16+ without.

What kind of volunteer roles are currently available?

In-Person Positions

Shelter Volunteer (cleaning, feeding cats)

My Kitty Cafe Volunteer (cleaning, feeding cats)

Cage Sanitizer (deep-cleaning cages)

Drivers (transporting cats to vets/stores/foster homes)

Virtual Positions

Administrative Assistant (booking appointments, ensuring shift coverage)

Calendar & Transport Coordinator (adding appointments to calendar, posting for volunteer transportation)

Intake Coordinator (updating spreadsheets/photo drive with new intake information)

Partner Store Coordinator (communicating with store staff about the cats)

Project Manager (managing key lead shift coverage, ensuring key lead tasks are completed)

Rescue Liaison (maintaining communications with other rescues)

Shelterluv Manager (ensuring Shelterluv is up-to-date)

Social Media Correspondent (answering questions, returning comments)

Volunteer Coordinator (communicating with volunteers, scheduling shifts)

Can I fulfill volunteer hours for school/community hours?

Yes you can! Any hours spent volunteering in the shelter can be counted.

Are there opportunities for people with physical restrictions/disabilities?

Absolutely! Due to the setup of the shelter itself, it isn’t an accessible place for mobility devices, but we welcome you to apply for any of the virtual positions, and if you are able to drive, we are always in need of drivers!
